COVID Update (as at 15th Sept 2021)

Arrangements

Where possible, visits to the parlour should be made by appointment.  Due to our arrangement rooms sizes, we would request that no more than 3 or 4  family members attend any appointments.  In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, face coverings must be worn on arrival and exiting the parlour but can be removed during any meetings within our arrangements rooms as we have screens in place.  Hand sanitiser will be available at reception -

Registering

You are still now no longer able to attend an appointment to register a death. This will be done ‘remotely’. The death certificate (issued by the GP, Hospital, or Procurator Fiscal) will need to be emailed to the registrar along with information relating to both a loved one and next of kin (Your funeral director will do this for you if needed) At present it is unknown when the registrar will be able to issue the ‘Form 14’ to allow the funeral to take place. As a result, the date and time of the funeral cannot be confirmed until the registration is complete and Form 14 issued. Copy extracts are still available to be ordered and paid for at the registrar. These will be posted out at a later date

Places of Worship

In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines from 9th August 2021, the number of persons permitted to attend a funeral will no longer be capped. This will be venue dependent, and we will advise accordingly. Carrying your loved one's coffin is allowed but some venues this may still not be possible or permitted.  Again, we will advise depending on the venue.  If carrying is not allowed, our staff members will safely convey the coffin from the hearse into the place of worship and back to the hearse following the service.  A coffin trolley will be used. Face coverings will still be required and contact details needed for all those attending for 'Track and Protect'

Crematoriums

In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines from 9th August 2021, the number of persons permitted to attend a funeral will no longer be capped.  The number is dependent on a venue’s size.  Face coverings will still be required and contact details needed for all those attending for 'Track and Protect' Woodside is operating a QR code system for all attendees

Cemeteries

In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines from 9th August 2021, the number of persons permitted to attend a funeral will no longer be capped.  Families can now carry a loved one’s coffin to the graveside, and take a cord to lower the coffin but face coverings must be worn at all times during this.  This is venue dependent and where allowed, a risk assessment must be completed and agreed prior to the funeral date we will discuss this with each client depending on their chosen cemetery.  In some cases, this may not be possible. In the event a family cannot carry or lower the coffin, the cemetery / our staff will safely convey the coffin from the hearse to the graveside and lower.

Charity donations

We can now offer the option to have donations in aid of a particular charity in memory of a loved one at services. We would ask that any donations are taken away on the day by family.
